Rolled Oats/ Jumbo Oats/ Big Leaf Oats

To create rolled oats, whole grain groats are first steamed, then rolled flat into flakes. Sometimes referred to as “old-fashioned” or jumbo rolled oats, rolled oats cook faster than steel-cut oats and are a great source of soluble fiber (beta glucans) along with other phyto chemicals such as avenanthramides. Rolled oats provide a rich oat flavor to a variety of common products like granola bars, cookies, muffins, cereals and beverages because they can provide flavor, texture and nutrition. Rolled oats are often used to add nutrition to baked goods. They also are useful in applications where high-water absorption is needed, like in flavored instant oatmeal. Instant Oats / Quick Oats / White Oats

These ground groats still have their bran layer intact, which makes whole oat flour a great source of soluble fiber (beta glucans) along with essential minerals. Oat flour is an ideal ingredient when you’re looking to add flavor, nutrition, and viscosity to a wide range of end products. Oat flour can be used as a multi grain flour, preservative for ice cream and other dairy products, as a thickener for soups, gravies, and stews, and to add nutrition to breads, muffins, crackers, beverages and desserts. Created by grinding kilned groats while retaining the bran layers fully intact. Whole oat flour is an excellent whole grain source for use in many baking applications.

Steel Cut Oats/ Dalia/ Pinhead Oats/ Irish Oats

It is processed by using large, cylindrical steel cutters to chop groats into several pieces, creating steel cut groats, Dalia (also referred to as Irish Oatmeal). With a shorter cooking time than whole groats and a chewy texture, steel cut oats retain much of their shape even after cooking. They can be used for a hearty breakfast, as an alternative to rice, or to add texture to stuffing and other foods. Steel cut groats have a shorter cooking time than whole groats while maintaining the whole-grain integrity. Steel cut groats can be used as a hot cereal on the breakfast table or baked into breads. Steel cut groats are sometimes sorted into fine, medium and coarse granulations, or sold as a mixed-granulation product. We customize our steel-cut granulations to fit your needs.

Oat Groats/ Naked Oats/ Dehulled Oats

Groats are the hulled, naked, whole, and unbroken inner kernels of the oat, and are the source of almost every other oat product available in market. They contain all three parts of the oat, making them the most nutritious oat product, along with steel cut oats. They are kiln for two major reasons. The first is to achieve a nice toasty flavor. The second is to inactivate the enzyme that causes oats to go rancid, thus creating a more shelf-stable product. The result is a healthy, chewy texture that’s ideal for multigrain flour, cereals, cookies and more. Whole oat groats are the product of cleaning and de-hulling oats and kilning the resulting groats. This is the basic raw material for stable oat-based products, from oat flour to instant oats.
